Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The song features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the project have stated that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was noted for its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
