The British player advanced to round three in three of the four major tournaments this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her final two events in 2025 as a result of a health issue that has affected her over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering again next season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the third set versus Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 matches in the current season and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
