Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
