Recent Details Come to Light Concerning the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains

New information has come to light about the shocking passing of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report citing a family associate, a therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.

Additionally refuted circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the residence. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
