Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Experiences

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend football side," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member advised me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but they have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
