The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in California aged 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The renowned video game developer passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, according to.

"This represents a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, his family, and all those touched by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts said.
