Trump Welcomes Families of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House
President Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He added that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Devastating Shooting
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their memory.
Presidential Offer
The president explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Response
Community members assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her former high school, told the press. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Measures and Government Revisions
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and cease issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to visit his relatives.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
